The word Terrazzo originates from the Italian word for terraces. Back in 16th century Italy, marble workers discovered a new use for the left over chippings from slab marble. They collected the odd chippings and inlaid them into a layer of mortar around their own properties to create a cheap but beautiful surface around their own homes. This practice evolved using various other materials into modern day terrazzo as we know it today and has been beautifully replicated here for our Terrana range.
